The Acoustics Symposium

The In-person Symposium will consist of two keynote speakers, oral presentations, and poster presentations. Oral and poster presentation topics will represent all fields of acoustics including (but not limited to) bioacoustics, ocean acoustics, signal processing, speech, biomedical acoustics, and environmental acoustics. 

Anyone with an interest in reporting acoustics research (in progress or completed) is encouraged to submit an abstract. Presentations are not required, anyone with an interest in acoustics disciplines is encouraged to attend as a participant. Registration and call for Abstracts will be announced in January, 2026.

The Career Workshop 

The Career Workshop is an opportunity for students and early career professionals to meet and learn about possible career paths associated with the field of acoustics, including industry, technology, federal sector, and academia.

Student Travel Awards

This year we will be offering limited Student Travel Awards up to $250 to eligible graduate and undergraduate students. If you’d like to be considered for an award, please indicate your interest when you register.

All workshop participants can park at no cost to you at the Campus Crossing Visitor Lot (Formerly known as "Mill Road Visitor Lot", or "C-Lot."). The lot is located at Mill Road across from the Durham Market Place plaza (set GPS for 8 Mill Road).

Your parking code TBD. Approach any kiosk in the lot assigned. Press “Coupon” Button enter code provided above and hit enter, the machine will verify the code, once the code is verified, press the green button and receipt will print out. Receipt must be displayed on driver’s side dash face up to avoid ticketing.

Campus Map

We have a block of rooms reserved at the Holiday Inn Express in Durham from 4/22–4/24 at a rate of $115/night (not including taxes), which is within walking distance to the symposium. Rooms can be reserved by calling the hotel directly (603-868-1234) or by going to the Holiday Inn Express website and entering the requested dates, selecting group rate, and entering the code ACU. The rooms and rate will then appear.

If you are unable to locate the group rate, please call the hotel directly as the block may be full and they need to release more rooms at the group rate.
