What is a Microcredential?
UNH defines a Microcredential as evidence that reflects attainment of specific skills or competencies, issued as a Digital Badge. Currently, CARE offers four Microcredentials. The three grade-based badges are achieved by completing two UNH Graduate Level Courses. The participation-based Introduction badge is achieved by completing a week-long short course and a series of online tutorials.
Full semester courses can be taken at the UNH Durham campus in person or online. One-week short courses require in-person participation.
Participation-Based Badge
Introduction to Ocean Acoustics
Required Courses:
• Attend one of two weeklong acoustics short courses with UNH’s CARE
• Complete three asynchronous online tutorials
• Fill out the Completion form, following the form instructions for submission
Grade-Based Badges
Bioacoustics
Required Courses:
• BIOL 827: Animal Communication
• BIOL 828: Marine Bioacoustics
Digital Signal Processing
Required Courses:
• ECE 814: Introduction to Digital Signal Processing
• ECE 941: Digital Signal Processing
Underwater Acoustics
Required Courses:
• OE 865: Underwater Acoustics
• OE 965: Advanced Underwater Acoustics
Time Commitment and Costs
Each Microcredential requires two courses, each of which runs the entirety of a UNH semester. Each course is three credit hours. For updated UNH tuition fees, please click here.
Outside Tuition Waivers
Limited tuition waivers for graduate students enrolled at other institutions are available.
