Researchers from our Earth Systems Research Center are working closely with Rutgers University - Newark, University of Maryland - Eastern Shore, and Delaware State University to offer an academic and professional preparation program in the geosciences. Led by UNH professor of geosciences Ruth Varner, this program, called CLOSES-GAP (Collaborative Links to Ocean Science and Earth Science Graduate Academic Programs) recruits undergraduates from traditionally underrepresented groups and provides them with research training and mentorship in the ocean and Earth sciences fields.
