Jill Munger (she/her) is a M.S. student in the Marine Bioacoustics and Behavior Lab. Her research focuses on the use of anthropogenic and biogenic sound, with a particular emphasis on fish sound, to gain insights into marine ecology and the overall health of our oceans. She is captivated by the countless number of sounds in the ocean that have yet to be identified and has leveraged advances in AI throughout her work.

Jill holds a B.S. in Fisheries, Wildlife, and Conservation Science from Oregon State University, where she specialized in passive marine acoustics. Her previous professional experience spans over two decades, primarily in the San Francisco Bay Area, where she worked as Chief Financial Officer for an interactive media software company, all while sharing her passion for double dutch jumprope through teaching and performance. In 2012, she moved back to Portland, Oregon to be closer to family. She met her husband, Tom, who came into her life with the best little pup, Quinn. They share a deep appreciation for nature through camping, hiking, scuba diving, and birding.
