Eyes in the Sky: Observing Weather from Space
Abstract:
This talk will cover how satellites developed by NASA and NOAA have helped the U.S. and its global partners forecast weather and track dangerous environmental conditions since the beginning of the space age. It will discuss the different types of weather satellites, the benefits they provide, and how the U.S. works with other countries to monitor the globe. It will also provide an in depth look at our nation’s current generation of geostationary weather satellites, the GOES-R Series, which provide incredible insight to weather phenomena, and include a UNH-built instrument.
