About Us
The ocean modeling group consists of Dr. Jamie Pringle, Bror Jonsson, and students. We use numerical models to understand what causes the circulation in the coastal ocean, and how this circulation transports marine organisms.
Current research includes:
- Origin of flows in the coastal ocean, in particular the East Coast of North America
- How deep ocean circulation modifies coastal flows
- Larval transport by coastal circulation, and the effects that has on the distribution of species in the coastal ocean
- Interactions between coastal circulation and the distribution of genetic variability in marine ecosystems
- Software to provide Lagrangian pathways and larval dispersal estimates in the global coastal ocean
